CCTV Host Zhang Hong Min is in trouble

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Zhang Hong Min, a Senior CCTV 7 o’clock evening news host, caught pouring 200,000 RMB on his birthday party, is in a reputation crisis.

Angry posters question where his money came from, since his salary is only about enough to pay this big bill, given that a normal people was not spending all money in one day. Others can not bear to see a person that represent a country’s image in that less decent condition.

A bit surprisingly, about equal amount people show their sympathy and accuse the blamers as rich haters. They think blamers do not work harder to get rich, but assume rich people’s wealth all come from corruption, which is insane.

Can a government news host as well as a party member, have a posh private life as long as he can afford it? Zhang did nothing wrong, in my opinion, because I believe a man at his post, at this age, can afford a special birthday.

But should we treat Zhang as a normal person like your next door neighbour when he is outside work hours, or should we see him as a government voice representative all the time? I have reservations on this question. My parents would like to believe Zhang is a good respectful person as much as he looks in evening news. If I show them these pictures below, their first reactions will be pure disbelief and anger; more shocked, if they hear rumous that say Zhang is a gay.

100,000 Uni graduates will serve rural China in next 5 years

Monday, March 24th, 2008

A newest policy says that from 2008, China will select 100,000 Uni graduates to work in rural China, which to some extent will ease tightening pressure that huge number university graduates put on city job markets each year.

Though rural origin graduates are not put in a must-apply situation, this policy do help them to find a secure social servant job and erase their uni loans, if they agree to serve three years.

No one wants to go in rural China. Not even students from countryside. Most parents expect children to work in Beijing state government in their best wish; if not available, they want university, bank, big state-owned corporations, or foreign companies. Certainly, working with farmers, is the last thing in parents’ plans. That is a reality that delays rural economy.

With too many university graduates, and too few city job vacancies, directing job seeker to rural China, couldn’t be a very bad idea. When more university graduates fit in, they will want to claim more rights and benefits on things such as less education fee, nationwide medical insurance, pension scheme if necessary etc.

I personall think thumb up of this policy. Because rural China’s benefit become a part of our business, when a lot of gradates have to live it for 3 years or probably longer. People in rural China are not ignored any more if this project goes well.

Li Jing, a fashion Tv host at retirement age

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Li Jing got her fame from hosting first celebrity interviews in mainland China probably 10 years ago. Gossips say she gambled all her money on that Television programme, and she was the first female individual producer and host at that time. I watched lots episodes now and then, and did not like or hate particularly. No grilling questions, no chanllenging games, interviews sound like coming home, with all those loving cares and flattering comments. I liked to watch when my favorite celebrities were invited.

Internet posts on Tian Ya certainly do not like her performance in the new programme Pretty Woman, where she was supposed to give advice to younger woman on beauty and fashion. They compared her with Lan Xin Mei, a Taiwan host on same fashion programme, and think she looks far worse in fashion sense. Lack of interesting communicating highlights between all co-hosts, make the programme less tasteful.

Lan Xin Mei, won not a little bit. Her program Queen is more free style, reckless in talking and better at communicating practical advices. Many people like Lan, because she talks simple, not faking a lady being ladette. She wears bold as well. There is a picture at the end.

Beckham has a Chinese tatoo scribbled on his body. It is a Chinese proverb saying, life and death have determined appointments; riches and honor depend on heaven.

The government in dilemma set up by Tibet mobs

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

I am 100% sure that the Tibet unrest is under Thibetan spiritual leader’s mastermind.

China, people and government, are bullied by socalled Thibetan activists. Our goodwill to accommodate international athletes are ruthlessly crushed by unkind international biased and confrontational activists.

Of course, international community will watch and criticise how Chinese government manage their own business. American cops shot dead black Americans who rob unmanned stores in New Orleans, which was regarded as righteous measure by police side. However, Chinese government will be blamed for only using harsh measures to control violent mobs.

This is not a peaceful rally. If you youtube Tibet today, You should clearly see monks and Thibetans stone, attacked passers on street; they attacked bank, local News building; they set Han ethnic shops on fire. There were bloodshed and manslaughter, but commit by Thibetan mobs.

Think about it, what American copps will do when mobs attck them with 2-kilo-weighted stones, sticks, and their cars were thrown over and set on fire?

At the same time, Chinese Embassy in other countries were attacked by so-called peace protestants, who blockaded road and burnt Chinese national flag.

News sources say Indian Thibetans were on their way to Tibet, while Gansu and Sichuan Thibetans also led protestant rallies. This just reminded me another news happened a week ago, about a Chinese Muslim girl’s attempt to burn down an on-air plane failed.

It is really sad that China never gain any sympathy from big countries when in trouble, but being scrutinised on every move China have to make.

Thibetan mobs are a group of ungrateful people. They enjoy many unique advantages, such as more than one child, much lower requirements for university admission, protection policies on the region and paramount investments.

Thibetans do not respect government and Han people as we should treat each other. They are allowed particular to carry knives, because they claim it as ethnic tradition. Unfortunately, they threaten people with this weapon for money in many cities. But local police will not charge or punish them, because of the ethnic protection or advantage policy.

Tibet is part of China. Thibetans enjoy same right and responsibility as other 55 ethnicities of China. Shame on you, those ungrateful blind violent activists. Why you are still hiding in another country, using begged funding and doing this evil thing?

I have confidence in China, and urge this unrest should be finished as soon as possible. People should take each responsibilities. Please do not let more innocent people hurt by Thibetan mobs.

This report by Guardian sounds neutral and objective. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/mar/15/tibet.china1

Beijing Opera will be added to school curriculum

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

News from China’s two national committees that are current in session, tell that Beijing Opera will become compulsory in campus. This traditional culture programme aims to cultivate classic culture appreciation of students from early ages to elders.

However, there is a row about which opera songs should be gathered in the text book. Much complaints fire at the Education Ministry who chose more adapted Red Opera than standard Beijing Opera songs. Their major concerns are as a result of the Red Culture between 1960s and 1970s, adapted opera can not properly represent Chinese traditional culture.

Beijing Opera artists up a suggestion to the Ministry that the traditional culture program should teach standard opera in majority, out of concerns that after generations true Beijing Opera might be lost if adapted popular version are accepted by the mass population.

For normal people like those random speakers on Tianya forum, they do not think it a big deal. Adapted opera is simpler for young beginners. As long as taken as a mere interest, whether it is very standard does not matter much.
