China's Great Wall

Home destroyed by force on New Year’s Day

January 5th, 2008 · No Comments

On New years Day, 23 families lost their living place in minutes, when 50 gangsters and a bulldozer trashed their habitats according to some deal between local government and land developer.

These 23 falling-apart old houses were sold by a bankrupt factory to a real estate  developer company, and it was unknown whether the residents had bought and owned them.

Maybe out of concern that the residents tried to negotiate more compensation by delaying moveout date, developer side went far beyond common sense.

In present day real estate boom, many living spaces are cleared by such means, which is not acceptable and needs to be corrected.
