Have a guess about where her skirt from.

Primary school in a cave

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

Have you ever seen a primary school located inside a mountain? Here we are. This school is named mid-cave primary school as it sits in one of three caves inside a mountain. Firstly built in 1984 meant for a teaching branch for nearby resident units, it now accomodates 186 students with a teaching force of 8 staff.

Pic one, children, perhaps at grade one or two, study under natural light.

pic 5, Creeds hung over classroom, mean perseverant study.

Humble condition as that, it is still a officially registered country primary school. I sympathize with students at those poor mountainous regions. What impress me more is their self-sufficient, optimistic and strong spirit that bright up the underlightened school.

China has many schools far worse than the mid-cave primary school considering proper classroom facilities. That is a sad reality that our government has to solve, and certainly it takes time and efforts. Fortunately, apart from government subsidies, there are private funds and personal support added to make their conditions better. I believe, the classrooms, electricity, tables and stools, as well as the basketball ground, must be funded by them. That is a better move, for those children, and for our country.

A special idea on Wedding Album

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Chinese newly-weds usually have a wedding album, which photos are taken by professional photographer. Women regard this album of great importance, and are willing to spend days planning and posing for shooting photos. Perhaps we are bored with the stereotype wedding photos, here come up a innovative album with a war theme.

The place should be a Shooting Game field. This kind shooting game is in among young white collar elites, who can form their own army and fight a battle with faux bullets. I guess this couple favor this game much to theme their wedding album. What is the story line here? Think it up. You can get different stories.

The happiest city in China

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

The newest “happy city” opinion poll has its result as Chendu, capital of Sichuan Province is voted for the happiest city in China, which represents 52.84% of 3396 people who all voted through Internet. Other 9 happy cities include Hangzhou, Qingdao, Dalian, Kunming, Suzhou, Guilin, Xiamen, Hongkong and Dali.

Chengdu lies in the middle valley on China’s map, surrounded by mountains, which is far less advanced than Beijing and Shanghai since ancient times. However, more than half voters prefer the slow tempo of city life, great mountainous outdoor fun, mild comfortable weather, NO.1 best cuisine as well as pretty local girls.

Hot pepper cuisine, Teahouse and Majong

Chinese cuisine has four big families, and Sichuan cuisine is one of them. Three basics eating the cuisine are: a strong tongue, ready for sweating, and cool tea drink or beer. I am not to scare you, though it takes courage to put into mouth. However, in Chinese herbal medicine theory, hot pepper diet can cure harm that humid or cold weather has done to body, so that it is great to eat in summer and winter.

Now, I will introduce you how local people there have fun. As a stranger myself, there are at least two major leisures that all the country know: Teahouse and Majong. Both two are passed down from ancestors in history, and people still take them as a life style. Teahouse suits people of all income levels. A cup of tea costs from 2 Yuan (20P British sterling) to 50 Yuan (3 Pound), depending on teahouse decoration and tea quality. Old people love to gather at teahouse, sipping tea, chatting and gossiping.

Ask a Chengdu local which is the most important life style, Sichuan cuisine, Teahouse and Majong. They will tell you all of them are, and mind you, all three are inseparatable. A perfect day is passed if you enjoy Sichuan food, chat with friends at teahouse, and play Majong. I have several British friends assure me that Chinese all like gambling. Right, are we? I only play in casino once in my life, and it is not on China’s land. But I could not deny, since majority Chinese play cards or Majong with families or friends, at get-togethers. If that connects with gambling fanatic, that’s no problem. Walking on a Chengdu street in the evening, you can hear a noise louder than birds’ songs. That is a Majong house you are passing by.

Chengdu, such a city of leisure!

Sichuan, gives us many expectations. As locals say, you don’t need a lot of money to be happy. At here, people have choices . Each life style is repected.

Chinese Super Girl - the winner

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

In America and UK, such programes like American Idol and the X Factor , send many normal people upto the vanity fair, making fame and money. Likewise, Chinese youngsters have televised singing competitions as short-cut to pursue fame and fortune.

Liyuchun 4

If present singing competitions followed a lead from someone, I would say Super Girl 2005, held by Hunan provincial satelite channel, started a democratic showbiz draft, stablizing the contest format for the first time. From tryouts to fanalists, nearly 150,000 contestants were winnowed to 10. Behind this show, apart from producer team, it is people’s votes, which directly keep their favorite in the contest. On the finale, nearly 8 million votes flooded in to chooes one champion out of three. There she is. This not very girlie girl won the Super Girl.

Liyuchun 3

Chunchun, nicknamed by her fans, is just an average university student. While her family has no relations or money, she has got the talent, and proved so by throwing a successful solo show in her uni before joining the Super Girl singing contest.

For a long time, the musical circle are wondering what Chunchun has to win, after the finale, because she is not the best at singing of ten finalist, nor she can dance well. Only that her voice is not a girl’s , makes her that special. Her fans all scream or weep while listening to her songs at show, not even hearing what she sings. She also never wear a dress or skirt at show, and that is how she wears as usual.

Liyuchun 2

She is maybe a tomboy, though her kissing-a-girl picture spreads on internet. Nevertheless, she is loved by millions girls of all ages, ranging from 7 to 67. Her win is the win of overturing a traditional Chinese norm on feminility, which is what present day Chinese youngsters want.

Chunchun, to some extent, is a symbol representing today’s youngsters , especially girls, who wants more freedom to follow their own plans rather than fulfilling parents’ or society’s expectations on them. They are a generation with their vision blurred, unwilling to take responsibilties as their parents do.

Liyuchun 1

Chunchun is an icon for millions’ youngsters in China. Her fans love her; her competitors’ fans love her; she has many female celebrity fans; she has many many female fans. There is no negative news except lesbian rumours about her. It is a miracle, that for the first time, we love a girl with no reason.
